Stability Results for C∗-unitarizable Groups

چکیده
We say that a locally compact group G is C∗-unitarizable if its full group C∗-algebra C∗(G) satisfies Kadison’s similarity problem (SP), i.e. every bounded representation of C∗(G) on a Hilbert space is similar to a *representation. We prove that locally compact and unitarizable groups are C∗-unitarizable. For discrete groups, we prove that C∗-unitarizable passes to quotients. Moreover, a given discrete group is C∗-unitarizable whenever we can find a normal and C∗-unitarizable subgroup with amenable quotient. 1 Department of Mathematics and Computer Sciences, Faculty of Sciences and Techniques, University Hassan I, BP 577. 26000 Settat, Morocco. On a Family of Non-unitarizable Ribbon Categories
We consider several families of categories. The first are quotients of Andersen’s tilting module categories for quantum groups of Lie type B at odd roots of unity. The second consists of categories of type BC constructed from idempotents in BMW -algebras. Our main result is to show that these families coincide as braided tensor categories using a recent theorem of Tuba and Wenzl. By appealing t...

متن کاملON REDUCIBILITY AND UNITARIZABILITY FOR CLASSICAL p-ADIC GROUPS, SOME GENERAL RESULTS
The aim of this paper is to prove two general results on parabolic induction of classical p-adic groups (actually, one of them holds also in the archimedean case), and to obtain from them some consequences about irreducible unitarizable representations. One of these consequences is a reduction of the unitarizability problem for these groups. This reduction is similar to the reduction of the uni...
متن کاملSl ( 2 ) - Type and Base Change
The SL(2)-type of any smooth, irreducible and unitarizable representation of GLn over a p-adic field was defined by Venkatesh. We provide a natural way to extend the definition to all smooth and irreducible representations. For unitarizable representations we show that the SL(2)-type of a representation is preserved under base change with respect to any finite extension. The Klyachko model of a...
متن کاملKostant Homology Formulas for Oscillator Modules of Lie Superalgebras
We provide a systematic approach to obtain formulas for characters and Kostant u-homology groups of the oscillator modules of the finite dimensional general linear and ortho-symplectic superalgebras, via Howe dualities for infinite dimensional Lie algebras. Specializing these Lie superalgebras to Lie algebras, we recover, in a new way, formulas for Kostant homology groups of unitarizable highes...
